Hello readers,
It has been some months since I’ve last written so I’d like to fill you in on what’s new. First is that I have begun teaching music lessons for guitar, violin, and cello. This has been an incredible experience meeting new people and guiding them through the process of learning an instrument. Seeing the ambition that drives a person to begin learning an instrument is like fuel for me; it ignites my drive to learn, it restores my perspective on music, and it provides me the role of supporting new talent. I can tell that this is the beginning of a long and wonderful career.
Another new endeavor of mine is that I’ve started writing music with the intention of having it featured in films. Previously when I’ve written music, I never gave too much thought to capturing a specific mood or emotion; the music would just happen to come out a certain way. But now, by trying to evoke for example a ‘pensive’ type of mood I find myself writing in a whole different and exciting way. My goal is once I have a collection of scene music, I can work with local independent film makers. Check out my first scene music piece here.
Last but not least is that I am going to begin reviewing local musicians and bands! This is something I’ve never done before, but I’ve been meeting so many aspiring musicians and I would love to utilize this platform to support local music.
In the coming weeks and months, readers of this Substack can expect to see updates on my new music, educational articles, and starting soon, music reviews and artist profiles. Thank you everyone who takes time to read what I write; it means so much.
